There is a bachelor’s degree program in kinesiology in Quebec. Students are trained to assess physical abilities, to analyze movement, and to prescribe programs of physical activity suitable for recreation, prevention, rehabilitation, or high-performance pursuit. It is also possible to do private training without going through the university system. These trainings are just as relevant.
In our words
Ancestral disciplines such as Yoga and Qi Gong have transmitted the wisdom of the past. It could not predict the specificities imposed by the 21st century. For the most part, we are no longer hunters / gatherers, unless it is a hobby. This training, adapted to today’s reality, comes to counter the harmful effects brought on by our new life habits. Several adaptations are possible to adapt to your needs, whether they be technical, aerobic, or even playful. We mainly use body weight, elastics, free weights, and balloons to get you moving in a variety of safe ways.

DESIGNED FOR YOUR NEEDS
Some discomforts are related to poor organization of moving body segments. Functional training helps correct body alignment and contributes to optimal multi-joint coordination. Stable and aligned body structures will allow ease of movement; the opposite irritates and stresses the body.
Functional training helps develop the balance, proprioception, stability, strength and power that athletes need to excel in their sports. Following a functional movement assessment (FMS), it will be possible to prescribe a specific program designed for the condition of an individual to improve its performance and reduce the risk of injury.
The sports one choose to practice won’t always allow the body to develop in a uniform way. Functional training can identify imbalances and reinforce weaker areas in the body to prevent the rest of it from compensating and therefore to decrease the risk of injury.
Functional training has benefits for children, both in terms of their self-esteem and the acquisition of technical competences. From the youngest age and until puberty, it is recommended to encourage children to move in order to promote the development of agility, balance, coordination, reaction time, orientation, rhythm and speed. This means aiming for natural bodybuilding through functional movements and body weight, as well as using games aimed at optimizing children’s motor development.
Current knowledge shows that there is no risk in functional training during pregnancy. On the contrary, physical activity is beneficial for both the mother and the baby. Training during pregnancy helps to: improve circulation, reduce discomfort associated with muscle cramps, control weight gain, reduce the risk of developing pregnancy diabetes, prepare for delivery, and facilitate post-partum recovery. Although physical exercise during pregnancy brings a lot of benefits, it is important to have the consent of your doctor before starting any training program.
