AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD)

There is a rise in the diagnosis of people living with ASD. The interdisciplinary signature method of Azzuan addresses this condition in its entirety, body and spirit, to help and bring support in the long term. The method offers tools that can contribute to the well-being of the individual. The information below is based on the observations, researches and treatments of therapists in relation to people diagnosed with ASD. No diagnosis or healing method is proposed, simply solutions, and perhaps a light at the end of the tunnel.

SATL

SOCIETY OF THE AUTISM OF LAVAL

We are proudly associated with the Société de l’Autisme and TED Laval to provide additional tools to their professionals. What resources are available to people diagnosed with ASD and their families? How can each discipline contribute?

In addition, we participate in fundraising for the benefit of this organization, because the cause is important to us!

OUR DISCIPLINES FOR
DIAGNOSED PEOPLE OF ASD

Your personalized care plan will consist of the combination of services that will best meet your needs based on the analysis of your health questionnaires on your first visit.

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is based on manual techniques aimed at preserving or restoring the mobility of the various structures of the body. Being a preventive and curative method, it is based on the idea that any loss of natural mobility of the structures relative to each other appears in the muscles, tendons, viscera, skull and envelopes (fascia), and induces dysfunctions. Here is how osteopathy can help the person living with ASD: rapid decrease in anxiety, muscle relaxation mainly in the shoulders, calmer and slower breathing, complete cessation of mannerisms and / or verbal self-stimulation, decreased or disappearance of discomfort of the head caused by epileptic seizures.

Naturopathy & Nutrition

Each person is unique and the difficulties have multifactorial causes. A naturopath should consider such things as diet, water, medications, sleep quality, muscle tone and the environment before proposing a health approach. The therapist will tackle, first, the gastrointestinal health of the person. Why? Because the naturopath believes that optimal digestive health can be the answer to many problems, as evidenced by the testimony of a parent who has used naturopathy: “Naturopathy has brought such great physical well-being to my child (intestinal level, immune level and tone level) allowing him to be receptive to other therapies that, until now, did not give much results! “. To further support this testimony, here is an article on the front page of DISCOVER: “Understanding Autism: The Answer May Lie In The Gut, Not In The Head” [1]. If the gastrointestinal aspect is addressed appropriately, it will create an increased level of energy that will be available to the person which can push further their health strategies.

Psychology

The psychologist can intervene with children and teenagers to understand the origin and meaning of the difficulties they present, and then develop strategies for managing them. Whether it is a specific diagnosis, such as attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity (ADD/H), a learning disability, a developmental or behavioral disorder, or difficulties such as stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms, sleep disorders, low self-esteem, difficulties of adaptation of any kinds, or social, school or family difficulties, the psychologist is there to identify the origin and meaning of these difficulties, provide support for the child and his family, as well as tools to improve their daily lives and reduce their suffering. There are several tools available to the psychologist to work with children, teens and their families including one-on-one discussions, drawing, play therapy and family therapy. Guided by the psychologist, parents and/or siblings are all invited to address issues or difficulties in the family in an interactional point of view rather than an individual one.

Qi gong chi gong chi kung

Qi Gong

Qi Gong is suitable for people diagnosed with ASD. It includes low-impact exercises with sequences of non-binding movements, natural, which are gentle and require little physical effort. These movements stimulate many aspects, such as: balance, breath and breathing, concentration, gross motor skills, and laterality. During the Qi Gong practice with people who have ASD, it was observed that there were no mannerisms. After practice, and for 1h30-2h, the following observations were made: lower anxiety, state of calmness and relaxation, better concentration, decrease of mannerism, better management of emotions in the face of annoyance or anger, and improvement in the way of breathing. The practice of Qi Gong must be part of a daily routine to constantly improve the condition.
